SPRING CREW FUNDRAISERS

Parents and Rowers :

Welcome to the Burnt Hills Rowing Association Spring Crew Season!!

Fundraising during the crew seasons are no different than any other sport or club.  They are mandatory and a great necessity to the team.  Signing up to participate in crew also means fundraising; they are a package deal!

It is hard to imagine that with our large beautiful boathouse that we would need to fundraise.  Unfortunately, the proceeds for fundraising do not go toward the boathouse, they are used for equipment purchases and repairs.  Due to successful fundraising last year and this past fall season, we were able to purchase a girls varsity 8, boys varsity 8 and 4 singles.  This enables us to stay competitive and keep our rowers safe.  This in turn allows the better used boats to be passed down through the club and everyone wins!  Due to our competitive standings, we are now on the “map” and are visited by college scouts.

Each season, like other sports and clubs we require all rowers to participate in 2 fundraisers. Our first one will be candy bar sales.  Each rower will receive 2 boxes of Gertrude Hawke candy bars of 48 bars each.  The rowers will sell the bars for $1/each. The payment is due at the time of registration.  The rowers will receive their boxes at the end of March.  Since you paid for the candy up front, you will keep the money when you sell the candy. You may choose to do the buyout due at the time of registration for $50.

The other spring fundraiser is the spring plant sale.  Rowers will receive in the mail order forms to take orders.  These will go out in the beginning of April.  Order forms and money will be due at the end of April.      Your customers will pick up their own flower orders at Pedrick's starting May 1 through the end of May.  The buyout for this fundraiser, due at registration, is $100.

The club relies on these fundraisers!  Rowers and their families work hard and it is not fair to those who fundraise if you do not!  Please work as a team on the water and off and keep our club safe and competitive!!

SPRING CANDY SALE

The boxes of candy bars will be delivered the week of March 10th.  The rowers will receive their 2 boxes at the end of that week or the beginning of the week of the 17th.

We will also be selling the candy bars at Wal-Mart on April 20th and the 27th between 10am - 2pm. We will need 3-4 rowers and parents for each shift.  We have ordered extra boxes for these days.  There is a sign up sheet on the fundraising bulletin board for time slots for these two Sundays.  The Modified will be there on the 20th and the rest of the team will be responsible for the 27th.  We will need several parent volunteers to assist the rowers during these time slots on both days!  Please check the board for information regarding this and all other fundraising events.

SPRING PLANT SALE

Look for your order packet in the mail the first week of April.  This will give each rower the entire month of April to sell plants.  The order forms and money are due April 25th.   Starting May 1st, your customers can begin picking up their plants from Pedrick's Florist.  If you have sold to customer that may have trouble picking up their plants, you may want to offer to pick up their plants for them.  Remember:  Several other groups use this same fundraiser, at the same time, so get out and sell early.  Remind your customers that Pedrick's green house closes toward the end of May, beginning of June, so they need to get their plants before then.

If you would like to order spring plants to help support the Burnt Hills Rowing team, you may download the order form and send it with payment to Mau Piel at the address on the form, or call Renee Ramsey (384-3376) to place your order.

If you have any questions regarding fundraising, please contact Renee Ramsey by or phone 384-3376.
