Then we have our own Roving Photographer,
Mrs. Catharine, who shot well over 4000 pictures
during the trip.
I'm sorry to say, that as many
as 500 or more pictures have been lost due
to equipment issues. We had a 4 gig CF micro
drive malfunction and were not able to download
at least five folders, maybe more. If anyone
knows how to recover files from a dead drive,
please help...
If you want to see a good video
of South Carolina activity Tim Szablewski
did a great little video of their alligator
hunting trip and posted it on Youtube. See "No

Indoor Team Challenge
North American Rowing Challenge
(NARC) 2008
March 15–April 15, 2008
We invite you to join the 9th Annual
Online North American Rowing Challenge,
to be held March 15–April 15,
2008.
The Details
Each team rows as many meters
as they can collectively between
12:01 a.m., Saturday, March 15
and 11:59 p.m., Tuesday, April
15.
This is a team challenge. You
must belong to a team to participate. This
is not the same as your club affiliation
in your profile.
All team members must be added
to their teams by midnight
on March 28.
Only indoor rower meters count
(no water meters please).
Meters must be entered online. Because
of the large number of participants
in the challenge, we cannot accept
results via phone, fax or email. We
suggest that any members who have
access to the Internet create their
own profile so that they can enter
their own results.
Meters rowed each week should
be entered no later than midnight
on Friday of that week. This works
on the honor system. It makes it
fair and fun for everyone if you
can watch the progress of the teams
that you are competing against.
Deadline for entering
meters: Friday, April 18, 2008
at midnight.
Some
of the Modified team members took a trip on
Saturday to the Rowing Tanks. Pictures are
posted in the BHRA PhotoGallery.
If you have pictures or stories
of interest to the Burnt Hills Rowing Association
please don't hesitate to give them to your
coach to get them submitted to the website.

Crew
What improves your strength, camaraderie,
health and fitness?
What takes you outdoors
and down to the river?
Spring training is about to start
at the Burnt
Hills Rowing Association.
Come on down to the Boathouse
and get rowing with one of the several BHRA’s
Rowing Programs. We have programs available
from Middle school
age children and High SchooltoAdult
and Adult Seniors and this is a tremendous
way for teenagers to adults to tighten their
bodies and minds while renewing their bonds
with nature and each other.
Our Coaching staff teach basic
rowing techniques, proper boat handling and
safety procedures. Beginning, Intermediate
and advanced as well as competitive rowing
is available.
The
incredible truth about this sport is
"You’re
never too old and it’s never too late"

This packet must be filled
out once a year. If your child rows

packet is only filled out in the spring. You
will not need to complete this packet
again for that calendar year.
Spring 08 Reg. form-
There
will be a form similar to this to fill
out every season. This is a single
form, requiring the signature of the
parents. On the form, there is
an explanation of the fundraising for
the current season, the dues for the
current season, and other important information.
Volunteer form-
This
form lists the various areas where help
is needed. This must be completed
with the other paperwork.
Clothing form-
This

You Know You Over Did It
At All The Holiday Parties!
The second
12 week session of the winter strength training
program begins on Monday, January 7th (or
whatever day you can make it that week).
You know you over did it at all
the Holiday parties the last month, so this
is your opportunity to get in shape for summer
water activities (hopefully, you will join
the “Learn
to Row program” this summer). Don't
be intimidated by strength training. The
new BHRA gym facility includes an excellent
assortment of exercise equipment, rowing machines,
and coaching by Mike Meier. BHRA has a
specific program set up so you don't have to
think about what you should do. That has
been done for you. Mike will show you
how to do each exercise properly. Other
adults have already started the first session
are having a lot of fun. The gym is open
to adults Monday through Thursday evenings
6:00 to 8:00 and on Saturday mornings 8:00
to 10:00. You may attend any or all days.
Bring your "MASTER
ROWER’S
Winter Training Program application" and
a copy of the waiver with you on your first
evening along
with a $120 check made out to BHRA. Don't
hesitate...take a chance and do something new
for yourself.
If you have any questions, email
Pictures of the construction
and some very nice shots

Tools
to help get a Rowing Scholarship
By Kate Stockton
To
begin the process of seeking out a rowing scholarship
at your top choice college it is important
to understand the qualities that make up a
desirable rowing recruit as well as some helpful
tools to help prove that you have what it takes.
Listed below are qualities that most coaches
would want in their student-athletes. Check
off the ones that you think apply to you, and
then ask your coach to do the same. If you
have more than 10, you are on the right track! MORE>>>
We can use more cameras at all
of our crew meets. We have very little coverage
for our Freshman and Modified teams, and virtually
none for the Masters.
Please take pictures at these events and submit
them for our "BHRA
Photo Gallery".
Put your pictures on a CD and give them to
your child's coach.
